Airspace and ATM Specialist
Diogene De Souza is part of the Operations team at London Heathrow; his current role as an Airspace & ATM Specialist involves a wide variety of workstreams, all aimed at optimising and delivering improvements to Heathrow’s aircraft operation. He is a subject matter expert on Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) and responsible for Heathow’s Airport Operations Plan (AOP), as well as the evolution of Heathrow’s Air Traffic Management Roadmap in collaboration with strategic partner NATS. He has developed a wide-ranging base of experience and is known for his capability to learn and digest complex topics quickly and bring people and projects together in aid of delivering the big picture.
Diogene holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management and Operations from Western Michigan University (USA), a Master’s degree in Airport Planning and Management from Cranfield University (UK), and also holds an FAA Dispatcher’s License. He began his career on Heathrow’s flagship Future Leaders Graduate Scheme before taking on a role as an Aircraft Operations Duty Manager in Heathrow’s APOC. He is a strong advocate for supporting the next generation of aviation professionals, and regularly returns to guest lecture at Cranfield University, as well as supporting students and colleagues through mentoring and opportunities to understand the world of Air Traffic Management. Outside of work, Diogene is passionate about supporting young people through his involvement in Scouting in West London, and is working towards becoming a qualified UK Mountain Leader to better support delivery of expeditions as part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
