Chairwoman of the Board
Ana Mata was appointed Chairwoman of the Board of ANAC – Portuguese Civil Aviation Authority, in January 2024.
She was already member of the Board since November 2021, being responsible for managing within the CAA the following areas: Economic Regulation; Consumer Protection; Human Resources; Financial Resources and Procurement.
Following her appointment as Chairman of the Board of Directors, her activities also include management of matters related to airworthiness, operations, facilitation and security.
Ana Mata was Director of the Management Control and Studies Bureau in the Portuguese Civil Aviation Authority from 2008 up to August 2020. She was also in charge of the Economic Regulation Directorate since 2014, accumulating both duties. Her main activities related to airport and air transport economic regulation as well as monitoring the civil aviation markets, and assessing the quality and availability of data. She conducted several studies including the Statistical Yearbook and economic studies on the competitiveness of civil aviation areas and their impact on the Portuguese economy.
Ms. Mata joined the Civil Aviation Authority in 2000. She has a postgraduate in I&T – business engineering, a master’s in management and strategy from the Lisbon School of Economics & Management and a degree in business management from the University Institute of Lisbon
