Transforming Air Traffic Management: Skeyes’ Journey to a nationwide Digital Tower Infrastructure
Skeyes has embarked on an ambitious program to establish a nationwide digital tower infrastructure. This initiative aligns seamlessly with the vision of creating the Digital European Sky, aimed at making the most efficient and environmentally friendly sky to fly in the world.

Initially, Skeyes planned to deploy digital towers as a contingency solution for regional airports. However, the program quickly evolved, with the goal of replacing traditional physical towers by consolidating operations into two state-of-the-art digital tower centers serving Belgium’s five regional airports.

To bring this vision to life, Skeyes selected Saab as its technology provider following a public procurement process This presentation will explore the deployment of the program, highlighting key milestones such as the establishment of a simulator and a development center as critical preparatory steps before transitioning to full operational deployment.

By sharing insights and lessons learned, this presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of skeyes’ transformative journey toward digital tower infrastructure and its contribution to the future of European air traffic management.
