Theme: Social acceptance and visual pollution

As a result of the many technological developments that have occurred recently Innovative Air Mobility (IAM) has emerged. The implementation of this new technology is planned for the next few years, and although it has tremendous potential, it is crucial to explore and understand the opinion of citizens, thus social acceptance assumes a preponderant role. Moreover, another aspect that has been the subject of significant attention on this topic has to do with the visual impact, namely the visual pollution that this disruptive technology may cause – both in urban and rural environments.
By developing virtual reality environments – both urban and rural – it is possible to assess not only the levels of social acceptance but also the levels of visual pollution caused by IAM. Thus, engaging citizens through immersive IAM experiences such as the virtual reality allows the collection of data on visual pollution and overall IAM acceptance. This investigation provides an assessment not only of the levels of social acceptance, a preponderant factor in the implementation of IAM, but also of the effect that the Virtual reality experience has on social acceptance, along with the visual pollution impact measurements. Furthermore, the project sheds light on the perceived social acceptance levels as well as the visual pollution levels that this cutting-edge innovation may generate, contributing to the deployment of this new technology.
