Event details

IRIS is paving pave the way towards Trajectory Based Operations by enabling advanced datalink services requiring notably intensive exchanges of trajectory information (e.g ADS-C EPP reports) and Complex CPDLC clearances (e.g. Loadable Route Clearances) in line with CP1 regulation. Thanks to the European Space Agency (ESA) the “IRIS” SATCOM is now a mature technology providing cost-effective, secure and highly resilient air-ground datalink communications compliant with ICAO SARP ATN/OSI and, in future, with ATN/IPS. The IRIS Service, provided by the ESSP, is certified and overseen by EASA since 20/072023 and is fully operational in Europe.
The IRIS Business model and on-going operations demonstrates that IRIS Service deserves wider adoption in Europe to meet its incredible benefits associated with the provision of advanced datalink services. Besides its ATS applications, the Airlines will also take advantage of the IRIS Performances to enhance its flight Ops services (via AOC link).
Concomitant air and ground deployments of IRIS service are now required to meet the short terms challenges of ATM Digitalization and Decarbonization we are targeting in the SESAR ATM Master Plan for Europe.
