Head of the Atlantic FIR Technical and Operational Advisory Office
With over 26 years at NAV PORTUGAL EPE, Paulo has been an air traffic controller since 1999, specializing in oceanic control. He is currently the Head of the Atlantic FIR Technical and Operational Advisory Office (ATOTAL) where he integrates expertise in ATM systems development and space-based ADS-B. Paulo’s extensive career includes roles as an On-the-Job Training Instructor, Assessor, and Synthetic Training Device Instructor from 2001 to 2016, Analyst and Surveillance Data Integration Specialist since 2014, Supervisor/Ops Room Manager, from 2016 to 2024. He holds a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from the University of the Azores and is still certified by the Portuguese Civil Aviation Authority as an operational air traffic controller.
