Principal ATM Research Engineer

Patricia López de Frutos is a Principal R&D Engineer at CRIDA with 25 years of experience in the Air Traffic Management (ATM) domain. She holds a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering and has dedicated her career to advancing ATM through innovative research, concept validation, and deployment support. Patricia has actively led numerous European ATM R&D projects and currently oversees key initiatives at CRIDA, including Human Factors activities focused on developing tools to assess and predict air traffic controller’s mental workload. She coordinates research agreements and internships with top universities, manages the Open Innovation program for ENAIRE (Spanish air navigation service provider), and serves as both Solution and Project Lead for SESAR3. Patricia’s commitment to innovation and excellence in ATM is reflected in her leadership across research, collaboration, and strategic support for CRIDA’s management. Her work drives impactful advancements that enhance safety and efficiency in European airspace.
