President
Brian R. Bruckbauer is president of Frequentis Defense Inc. (FDI). As president he leads a technologically driven team that delivers advanced, mission critical communications and information systems solutions for U.S. and global military customers. Under Bruckbauer’s leadership, FDI has embarked on a growth strategy focused on evolving and in-demand technology market areas such as state-of-the-art IP-based voice communications systems, advanced situational awareness and safety capabilities, fixed and deployable command and control products, and fixed and deployable digital air traffic control systems.
Prior to his current role, Bruckbauer was the President & CEO of the Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA), a non-profit professional organization, where he led efforts to solve complex airspace and air traffic control challenges by working closely with government, industry, and international organizations. Bruckbauer retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Brigadier General in 2021, where he was a career air traffic control officer. In his last assignment he oversaw all Air Force foreign military sales as the Director of Air Force Security Assistance and Cooperation, a $226 billion portfolio with 118 countries. He commanded at the Wing, Group, and Squadron levels, was the Senior Military Assistant to the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, and was a Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. He was the first U.S. Air Force core air traffic control officer to achieve General Officer.
He is a 1992 Distinguished Military Graduate of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He earned master’s degrees from the National War College, Naval Command Staff College, and George Washington University. He and his wife, Stacye, enjoy spending time at their lake house in northern Minnesota.
