Speaker Bio

Stéphane Vaubourg is the U-space project manager and senior expert at EASA, responsible for leading the harmonised implementation of U-space in Europe. Accordingly, he is responsible for supporting and overseeing the European and associated Member States, for the continued development of the U-space regulatory framework, as well as for the certification of USSPs applying to EASA.

A graduate in computer science, he started his career as an embedded software engineer in the French aeronautical industry, where he had the opportunity to work with major system suppliers (e.g. Safran and Thales). He then joined Dassault Aviation contributing to the certification of the Falcon jet family and military drones. He has worked for the European Union Aviation Safety Agency for 14 years, initially in the EASA Certification Directorate as an expert in the software, avionics and cybersecurity domains, and started his U-space journey in 2022.
