Peter Turnbull is Professor of Management & Industrial Relations at the University of Bristol Business School. His research on the civil aviation industry dates back to the early 1990s and includes major studies for the International Labour Organization (ILO) on the social and employment impacts of 9/11 and the global financial crisis.
He has also worked with the ILO to promote the employment of women in the transport sector, including civil aviation.
Professor Turnbull is a former member of the Arbitration panel of the UK’s Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) and worked with the European social partners – CANSO, ETF and ATCEUC – on a project funded by the European Commission to promote social dialogue in European air navigation services. Most recently, he facilitated negotiations at the UK’s NATS under the framework of a “working together agreement” between management and trade unions.
