Speaker Bio

Milena Bowman is the Executive Manager at EUROCONTROL’s Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (MUAC), responsible for the day to day management of systems, airspace, procedures, and occurrence management. She has been a member of the Just Culture Committee at EUROCONTROL since 2019. Milena holds a Master Degree of Economics from Sofia University of Economics and a Global Executive MBA of INSEAD, so she can read a balance sheet and an aeronautical map equally well. A believer of the benefits of data driven decisions, the power of diversity, networks and behavioural science in her quest to raise awareness about bias, Milena founded a Diversity and Inclusion Think-tank at MUAC. She is a Diversity Ambassador for the EC and is actively engaged internationally with aviation organisations to support diversity, equality and inclusion in aviation.
Milena is a PhD Candidate with Leiden University, researching Team Diversity Influence on Safety in ATM. She is also a member of the Steering Committee of INSEAD Women in Business Club
