SESAR’s European Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) aims to inspire new researchers and help to align exploratory and industrial research, through a wide range of activities and financial support actions. The network is managed by a consortium of academia and industry, with the support of the SESAR 3 JU, to promote and facilitate the development of air traffic management research in Europe.
This session will describe some of the high-level outcomes of the SESAR 2020 KTN, outlining the key benefits delivered to stakeholders. The focus will be on illustrating the integration of Exploratory Research (ER) and Industrial Research (IR), with specific examples, and a briefing on selected ‘catalyst fund’ projects. What were the challenges tackled and the advantages to industry partners of participation in the network? Looking ahead to SESAR 3, what lessons learned can be taken forward, what new initiatives are expected from the next KTN, and how can industry get involved?
This talk will be given by two members of the University of Westminster team, which coordinated the SESAR 2020 network from January 2018 to June 2022, with insights into the planning of the new team, building on the current platform, and driving the successor network from 2023.
