The SESAR DACUS study predicts that there will need to be one take-off/landing area for drones and eVTOLs for every 3,000 urban residents by 2036. But integrating these complex units into both ground and airspace infrastructures represents a series of unique engineering and environmental challenges. With the first eVTOL services due to start commercial operations in 2024 is the aviation industry - including regulators and standards bodies – ready for this immense task?
