Delivering technologies for a safer world

Session Overview

Spoofing the GPS input to ADS-B, either internally (deception) or externally (GPS jamming), poses a grave safety risk for ATC as it decreases the accuracy of the air picture. CRFS has developed a novel approach to identify and mitigate GPS Spoofing using passive signal decoding and 3D geolocation from 4x sensors. The decoded ADS-B signal is compared to the geolocated ADS-B signal, with any large differences between the two positions indicating spoofing. ATCs can use this information and compare it to their live feeds. During the presentation, a live demonstration will be included where the speaker will show how the system performs the geolocation and how ATCs can leverage this technology to protect themselves against this grave safety threat.
