Delivering a sustainable future
The industry has set itself a target net-zero carbon by 2050. For some, this is aspirational, as it will rely on government support to industry in areas as sustainable aviation fuel development/production and research into hydrogen/electric propulsion. For others, it is realistically attainable. Many believe the first, easy wins will be to shorten routes and simplify procedures in air traffic management operations – this does not require huge investment but merely the realisation of existing commitments. So is the 2050 target realistic or aspirational and is ATM low hanging fruit, or part of a complex eco-system of partnerships, all of whom have roles to play?
