Delivering a sustainable future

Session Overview

Changes in ATM operations needs to be supported by airport major transitions. Airports in a context of growing air traffic demand must rethink their way of operating to increase competitiveness and enables the energy transition of the entire aviation ecosystem. But, this cannot be done at local level. Collaboration is key. The Stargate project led by Brussels Airport and including 23 partners in Europe from the European Commission's Green deal program addresses the zero net emission stake, covering all aspects : Energy (Electric, Hydrogen, SAF, Solar farms, Infrastructure), Mobility (Airside, Landside), Collaborative Governance and Digital Twin.
To achieve the zero net emission stake at airport level, Stargate addresses three objectives :
- Decarbonization to impulse changes in day-to-day airlines operations (e.g. : CDO)
- Improvement of local environment quality through energy transition such as SAF usage
- Increased data sharing among all stakeholders including ATM to stimulate multimodality of the passenger travel segment to/from the airport
In this context, Sopra Steria as leader for the mobility work package will present the results after the first year with a focus on door-to-door passenger experience.
